I'm reading Sue Watkins' book about the class sessions Jane Roberts held and in one of them Seth encapsulates our basic challenge of thinking of our self as elsewhere of thinking of All That Is as elsewhere, when it's here now and really cannot be anywhere else.
This is something I saw from the moment I started giving psychic readings. It was astounding. I literally saw the person looking everywhere for himself for God, for answers while sitting right in them. This knowledge has changed my life.
It was a matter of awareness, being able to notice what is.
Anyway, here is what Seth says:
"You cannot project psychic reality elsewhere. It is one thing to project a God outward into another universe and then try to find it. You realize by now that this is a futile attempt, but it is also futile to try to reach yourself by imagining that your self is somewhere else in another universe--you are doing the same thing.
The self is immediate as All That Is is immediate, and your quickest entry point is at the point of your present feelings, and there is no other way. The door to your feelings [is] open by accepting your feelings at this moment or at any moment as they apply to yourselves and to others in the room." (Page 77-78, Conversations with Seth, Susan M. Watkins.)
Exercise. If you have a basic headache, do an nice, sweaty workout and it will most likely go away. You'll not only be headache free, you'll feel great.
In our society today we have shortcuts to all sorts of things including taking aspirin for a headache. From a spiritual perspective, we become outer-dependent rather than seeking inner solutions. We are not building our spiritual power when we work with the assumption that our solutions come from the outside.
What concerns me is the huge problems this can cause. A simple thing like taking aspirin for a headache may not address the deeper issues, if there are any. This then may appear to be an even bigger problem. Again one looks from the outside for a solution. Again applies the solution, and so it goes. Pretty soon there is total confusion as to what the problem really is and therefore difficult to apply a solution that really works.
I think about this especially when it comes to eating. When one does not have a fairly healthy diet, it can appear that one has all sorts of symptoms, when in reality, it's just about eating more healthfully. One can then go about treating the symptoms and very easily create a problem where basically there was none.
We are way more powerful than we think we are. Our bodies are designed to heal automatically; they default to healing. All of creation is designed for well being, expansion and fulfillment. Life is easier when we work with universal principles.
However, you have to ready for that. Meanwhile, if you trust in doctors, etc., you do that route until you can start the spiritual route.
