My dad was an athlete so I grew up playing all kinds of sports: volley ball, badminton, Ping-Pong, basketball, track and field. When older, when aerobics came into existence, I became an instructor. I've worked out with weights over the decades and love using my stationary bike with weights which I started doing decades before it became popular. And, of course, I've danced all my life.
In the late 70s, I got this exercise gadget called the Bullworker. You can see it in the picture on the right. Basically, you pull and push to get exercise.
I loved it. What was amazing to me was how quickly my body responded to the exercise.
So, decades went by and, for some reason, I thought of the Bullworker, looked it up, and they were still in business and selling new, evolved models. Really expensive, but nevertheless, I purchased the 20" Steel Bow. What fun!
One of the best things I like about it is how easy it is to use. There it is sitting around and I just reach for it.
Also, I discovered something very interesting. Sometimes therapists will use this method of having the client tighten their muscles as a way to release them. Sometimes the muscle is so tight, it's hard for it to release, but if you squeeze as hard as you can, then let go, the muscle will release. So, that's the effect of the Bullworker. All in all, it has the effect of strengthening and stretching your muscles in one exercise. You suddenly feel more flexible! I really like it!
Also, it offers an opportunity to exercise muscles in new ways which seems more compatible with everyday movements and activities.
As I was looking into the Bullworker, I kept coming across resistance bands. I know they've been around for a while, but I never paid them much attention since I really like weight workouts, but this time around I paid attention and thought, this may be another way to exercise the body in new ways, so I got myself a resistance band.
We all know it's important to move the body in some way, get some kind of exercise to stay healthy on all levels. I believe everyone can find a way to move that suits their temperament and body. One just has to try different ways of moving and discover what feels good and fun.
You can see if working out with the Bullworker and resistance band is something that could be fun for you. In any case, move in some way as a way to stay healthy physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
